Did you know that the majority of people have words of affirmation as one of their love languages. Another way to say this is that most people like hearing words of encouragement. We did a study with our Michigan Christian summer camp staff and found that 70-80% of them prefer words of encouragement to other forms of appreciation. 1 Thess 5:11 says “Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up just as in fact you are doing.” Never underestimate the power of a word of encouragement. Here’s a fun, creative idea to encourage people. Make a homemade card with specialty paper from Joann Fabric. Put a verse on the front and write a note of encouragement on the inside. It will make someone’s day!
At Miracle Camp and Retreat Center, we are constantly striving to improve EVERYTHING – even the things under the surface. We know that sometimes it’s what goes on behind the scenes that makes everything successful. That’s why this week our maintenance team is working on a storm water drainage system to help us control erosion and grow beautiful grass around campus. While this seems like a small thing, we think it will really impact the beauty of Miracle Camp and Retreat Center and make your experience here even better!
We just completed the installation of new volleyball courts here at Miracle Camp. Our old system was out of date and in very poor shape. The new system will allow for much tighter nets as well as greater safety with padded poles.
We recently completed a new entrance to Miracle Camp and Retreat Center. The next time you drive here you will see that our entrance has been simplified into one large entrance that will work for charter busses as well as making the entrance and exit safer for cars. We installed 10 main street light poles with banners, built two new signs, added lanscaping, and hope that these additions will improve our hospitality and create a great first impression for our guests.
We also just finished construction of our hockey rink on the Back 40 side of the road. We are excited to use this this summer for roller hockey as well as flood the rink for ice hockey in the winter. We are currently in the process of installing 45 foot poles to light the athletic fields, the hockey rink, outdoor basketball courts, waterfront, and the mini golf course.
Thanks to a work team from Archbold, OH, we have a refreshed waterfront area. More than 100 yards of fresh new sand was brought in to improve the beach area. The work team helped remove old fencing from the area and make the area safer.
We are also looking forward to the completion of the new blob tower and waterslide which is underway.
The horse corral has finally been completed for this year’s horseback riding activity. We have partnered with True Vine Equestrian Center to provide horseback riding for both of the grade school camp sessions. Riding will be available as an activity class for extended times of learning and also as a recreational activity during free time for campers. Free time riding will take place in this corral that was just completed. Classes will be able to participate in trail rides around the camp property. We are excited about this new opportunity.
A special thanks to the men from man camp who were able to help out with the construction of this corral.
The mini golf course is finally complete. This will be available to all summer campers and guest groups in the future. The course is 9 holes and is quite challenging. Be sure to come to camp and check it out.
The construction on the high ropes course here at Miracle Camp is complete! This course is great for team building, leadership training, and overcoming fear. For information on how your group can use the high ropes course please contact us by e-mailing email@example.com.
The construction on the miniature golf course here at Miracle Camp and Retreat Center has started! This course will be finished here in the next couple of weeks just in time for summer camps! The cost of the course is around $20,000. If you would like to donate to this project please let us know. We will keep you posted on the status of this course.
