GIVE. IMPACT A LIFE.

YOUR DONATION DOUBLED

We have graciously received a $100,000 matching gift for the Maple Ridge expansion and a $200,000 matching gift for the Oakwood Chapel renovation.

EVERY DOLLAR YOU GIVE IS NOW WORTH TWO DOLLARS.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THESE GIFTS!

The Keeping Faith campaign is an ambitious project that will allow us to better serve our guests and fulfill our calling. We strive to connect to people’s hearts and prepare them to listen to Jesus. The Gerber’s story is one example:

Maple Ridge

The Maple Ridge expansion will add a meeting space that can accommodate up to 175 people; this will allow us to house guests in Maple Ridge and Evergreen and provide them with a place to meet.

KEEPING-FAITH-MID-PHOTOS

In Matthew 28, Jesus commands His followers to go and make disciples. In this passage, He gives them authority and power to accomplish His spiritual work and lead the church. But this authority is not a power to take the land with the sword; it is something much more complicated. Their job was to connect to people’s hearts, and prepare people to listen to Jesus. The point of this passage is ingrained in what we do at Miracle Camp.

Worship

The Oakwood Chapel renovation will develop and transform the entire facility. This expansion will allow us to accommodate up to 600 people and will remodel the existing meeting space so that we can have multiple meeting rooms.

Where are your roots?

Have you ever heard of the “Five Solas”?  Not many people have, but these are considered to be the five pillars of the reformation many many years ago.  They are foundational to a Biblical faith and worldview.

  • By scripture alone – this is the idea that the foundation of truth must rest on the Bible alone.  The Bible is the ultimate authority of truth.
  • By faith alone – True faith, repenting and turning to God, is the only way to salvation.
  • By grace alone – Our salvation is not based on what we do or by keeping a list of rules, but rather the grace of God.
  • Through Christ alone – Only faith in Christ enables God to save us by his grace.
  • Glory to God alone – We shouldn’t worship a pastor, Bible figures, created things, or anything else other than God.

So where are your roots?  Do you believe these five statements?  More importantly…does your life reflect these statements?

We are looking forward to seeing campers’ lives change as they encounter these roots of our faith at youth group winter retreats in 2014!

Intentional Discipleship

Intentional conversations are an important part of our ministry at Miracle Camp. Summer camp is supposed to be a ton of fun and one of the best weeks of the summer every year, but camp is a whole lot more than just fun and games. We take discipleship very seriously at Miracle Camp and one of the primary ways we encourage discipleship throughout the summer is through camper-counselor one-on-ones.

One-on-ones are a favorite of both counselors and campers throughout the summer. Hanging out with the entire cabin is a great time, but both campers and counselors enjoy the opportunity to talk to each other on a deeper, more personal level. This gives campers and counselors a chance to spend some time together doing a fun activity like zip-lining or kayaking, and allows them to get to know each other much better.

Pray around the world with your kids

Have you ever heard of Operation World?  It’s a great book that highlights the prayer needs of each country in the entire world.  If you want to help your kids have a heart for the world and evangelism, this is a great way to help them think with a global mindset.  Buy a globe, find the country, look up pictures of the people and the landscape on your iPad and then spend time praying together as a family.

One of our prayers for every single retreat or summer camp we hold is that the world will be impacted by what happens.  We love when we hear of people who are called into the ministry through the work of Miracle Camp and Retreat Center.  This happened at Man Camp in 2011 with the Master’s family.

Pick up your own copy of the book today and start praying around the world with your family!

We are about halfway through our Ice Camp youth group winter retreat season here in Michigan.  So far around 70 students have accepted Christ!  We are forecasting that there will be about 2,400 students and leaders in attendance over the 9 weekends of Ice Camps.  Please continue to pray for lives to be changed as youth groups from Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan come together through the remaining weekends.

Oh…and by the way…if you get a chance to try snow tubing behind a snowmobile you should.  It’s a blast!!!

Keep the Winter Retreat Fire

bible

When you leave a retreat or summer camp, it’s pretty common to have what we call a “camp high”.  What we’re talking about is this feeling of being really close to God.  And if you think about it, it makes sense.  You have been worshipping, reading the Bible, listening to good teaching, talking about your faith, and maybe even sharing your faith with a friend.  But often when we get home, we stop doing those things.

My challenge to you (those of you who just have attended Ice Camp) is to continue doing those things.  Keep going to church and listening to preaching.  Keep reading your Bible and spending time in prayer.  Keep serving and talking about your faith with your friends.  These things will help keep you connected to God beyond the retreat you attended in Michigan this winter.

I’ve attached a copy of a Bible reading plan that we recommend.  Even if you don’t read it as fast as it says, just spend a little time in God’s word every day.  But don’t keep it there…put it into practice.  Read AND follow what God’s word says.

So about that retreat or summer camp high…it might still go away, but you’ll be living an exciting life to the full following God!

Home made encouragement cards

By | Projects | No Comments

Did you know that the majority of people have words of affirmation as one of their love languages.  Another way to say this is that most people like hearing words of encouragement.  We did a study with our Michigan Christian summer camp staff and found that 70-80% of them prefer words of encouragement to other forms of appreciation.  1 Thess 5:11 says “Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up just as in fact you are doing.”  Never underestimate the power of a word of encouragement.  Here’s a fun, creative idea to encourage people.  Make a homemade card with specialty paper from Joann Fabric.  Put a verse on the front and write a note of encouragement on the inside.  It will make someone’s day!

Favorite Photobooth Pics

By | Life at Camp | No Comments

We recently bought some new lights for our photo booth.  I was looking though old retreat photos from some of the church retreats and family camps we have done in the past.  There were so many fun photobooth moments.  People really love the things we do that make them laugh and make retreats and camps memorable.  We love doing things at a summer camp that sometimes are just sweet, cool, or even just for fun.  If ever you have any retreat ideas that we can implement here in Michigan, let me know!  Here’s some of those pics!
