Summer Camp is Coming!

By | Summer Camp | No Comments

It might still be February but this warmer weather is showing us that summer is right around the corner! In less than 100 days, our Summer Staff will be getting ready for our first week of campers!

Summer Camp is one of our favorite times of the year. We love seeing campers experience things they can’t do at home like blobbing out on the lake, riding the zip line, and meeting lots of new friends from all over the Midwest! Our large group games, like Gold Rush, Atomic Domination, and Hunger Games are always a blast and give campers a chance to have fun and play games with hundreds of other kids at a time. Archery, paintball, the Climbing Wall, and the craft shack are just a few more of the incredible activities we offer here at camp.

More than all the fun and games, though, we love Summer Camp because we get to see these kids spend a whole week learning more about who Jesus is and their need for Him through chapel sessions, cabin devotions, and one-on-ones that each camper gets with their counselor. Our entire mission is built around facilitating life change by helping people grow closer to God. All of the hard and exhausting work that our staff puts in to each week of the summer is worth seeing kids grow in their relationship with the Lord.

Update on the Keeping Faith Campaign!

By | Giving, Keeping Faith, Projects, Safety | No Comments

The Keeping Faith Campaign began, and continues to be, a vision for ministry here at Miracle Camp and Retreat Center. It celebrates how faithful God has been over the past 50 years of ministry, while also looking ahead to the next 50 years and beyond. This campaign has focused on three opportunities to continue sharing Christ with more and more people every year: ensuring safety, adding capacity, and being good stewards.

Ensuring Safety: Safety is our number one priority. Whether guests are at the waterfront or going down the zip line, we make sure they are secure with safe equipment and trained staff. One of the additions to camp that we have been most excited for through the Keeping Faith Campaign is the addition of the tunnel, which has allowed hundreds of kids, families, and guests to cross the road safely. We have been so grateful that we were able to begin the Keeping Faith Campaign with the addition of the tunnel and continue to provide a safe place for those who are on our campus.

Adding Capacity: Each year, we have to turn guests away due to lack of space. We want to be able serve as many people as possible and not have to turn anyone away who desires to experience life-change. The Evergreen Project is one of the ways that we are looking to increase the number of guests we can have on campus. As you may have seen, we are thrilled by all of your support to completely fund the Evergreen Project. We are already under way with this renovation and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring so construction can continue!

Being Stewards: We believe in excellence here at Miracle Camp. This does not always mean building new facilities every year. It can also mean taking responsibility to care for and improve the facilities we already have and, therefore, being good stewards of the many things God has blessed us with. This is one place that we are excited to be heading in the future. Throughout the next few years, we are hoping to update and remodel many of the buildings and facilities we have around campus. We desire to pour into and care for the guests that come to camp and we want nothing to distract from their experience here. With your support we can continue to improve camp and be good stewards of the resources the Lord has blessed us with.

THANK YOU!

Again, we want to thank you for all of your support of camp throughout the Keeping Faith Campaign so far. We look forward to your continued prayers and financial support as we look ahead to the future of Miracle Camp!

Want To Get Involved?

We would be thrilled to have you join us in our mission to serve the local church and see the message of Jesus preached to thousands every year! We would love you to prayerfully consider supporting camp with a financial gift and prayer. If you would like to donate to the Keeping Faith Campaign, click here!

Man Camp is Almost Here!

By | Men's Retreat (Man Camp) | No Comments

The first Man Camp of the 2018 season is not far away! As always, we are so excited for Man Camp and the coming of the warmer weather, amazing food, March Madness, and to see hundreds of men praising the Lord. We are also looking forward to the four men coming to speak at Man Camps this year. Get to know the speakers a little better:

Man Camp 1

Dan Busse: I have been in ministry since 1996, a grad of Dallas Seminary, and am now currently getting another masters degree from Liberty Seminary in missional involvement and evangelism. More importantly I am married to an amazing woman and dad of 4 incredible kids.I do not claim to have all the answers, but I do want to see the church be all it can be. Jesus gave His life for the church, we are to show Him off. Frankly, in America, the church as we see it has failed. Not because of Jesus but because of us. So as leaders we have a choice. Do we lead by listening to Jesus and being courageous enough to take the shots, or do we simply do what others want and continue the downward trend?

Man Camp 2

Rich Ratts: Rich Ratts is passionate about helping people to connect with God and then connect their faith in Him to their everyday life. Rich believes that we have been called to make a life, not just make a living! He has spent the past 31 years serving as a Lead Pastor, Associate Pastor, Student Pastor, Worship Leader, and as a Church Planter & Church Planting Missionary. Rich has worked with ministries in Florida, Illinois, Michigan, and Montana. Currently Rich serves as Lead Pastor of Crossroads Church in Monticello, Illinois. Born in Decatur, IL, Rich grew up in Vandalia, IL. He has been married to Nancy for 31 years. They have five children: Nate, Josh, Josiah, Mercy, & Caleb.

Man Camp 3

Tom Harmon: My name is Tom Harmon, my loving wife Joyce and I have been married for forty-five years. We have four children, and they are all are married. All our children love the Lord and we thank God for His gracious hand upon us. I grew up in a Christian home and trusted Christ at an early age. I regret to say that most of the early years of my journey I did not walk in the ways of the Lord. In High School I enjoyed football, basketball and track. Upon graduation from High School I attended Northern Michigan University on a four year full ride athletic scholarship. I played four years of college football, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree. In 1973 I graduated from the Michigan State Police Academy and was a trooper for eleven years. In 1984 I sensed God’s call on my life to preach and resigned from the department. I pastored a small church north of Lansing for four years and have been a full time itinerant preacher speaking in churches, camps, and Bible conferences for the past twenty-five years. My life’s verse is Philippians 3:10.

Man Camp 4

Nate Hamblin: Nate serves as the co-pastor of Neighborhood Church, a two-year old church plant in Adrian, Michigan. Prior to moving to Adrian, he served in a variety of pastoral roles at Crossroads Evangelical Church in Wauseon Ohio for 11 years.  He’s passionate about coaching people in the everyday truths of life in Christ. Personally, Nate considers himself a proud member of the “I married way above myself” club. He and Amanda have been married 15 years and have two young sons—Eli & Oliver. He enjoys the simple adventures of life—family time, food, yard work, laughter and watching college football (Go Blue!).

In addition to these speakers, we are excited to offer so many awesome activities, including, but not limited to:

Zipline
Archery
Man Lounge
Trap Shooting ($6 for 12 shots)
Steak Cook-Out
Dodgeball
Climbing Wall
High Ropes
Paintball ($6 for 2 rounds)
Bacon

and much more!

Apply to Camp Aide This Summer!

By | Summer Camp | No Comments

The Camp Aide program here at Miracle Camp is designed to give high school students an opportunity to serve alongside the summer staff at camp. It is an intense two week discipleship program that gives students a chance to work with kids, help out around camp, and learn more about their relationship with God.

Each year we are excited to challenge our Camp Aides and help them grow through serving the kids that are here. These students will work on many different projects here around camp and will have the experience of seeing what goes on behind the scenes during the summer. Camp Aides will be able to learn from the counselors they work with and will be able to spend time being mentored by our Camp Aide Directors. We desire to see these high schoolers grow in their relationship with God and give students time in the Word every day through personal devotions, worship, teaching times, and small groups. Camp Aides get to experience an incredibly fun two weeks as they have the joy of hanging out with kids, with each other, and with the summer staff!

We offer 3 two-week sessions of our Camp Aide program.  If you are interested in one of these sessions please apply online and that will get the process started. Applications are due by March 15th to guarantee consideration for a spot this summer. Applications may be accepted beyond this date; however, positions may be filled after that time. For more information on the Camp Aide program, or to apply, head to www.miraclecamp.com/campaide!
